Like a Lobster I tell thee
I went to the beach a few days ago, for the first time really since I left Fiji. I met up with Swedish Chris, and Yorkshire Amy who live there now and I laid on the beach burning and I'm red raw now on my front, my arms and face are ok though so at least I can cover up and not look silly. The weather has really picked up and turned nice, finally! This is what Australia is about.
I had found an apartment to move into, I viewed it on Friday, gave one of the tenants a call and said that I'd move in with a mate, would he let the landlady know that I wanted to move in etc.. He was like "thats fine cool I'll seeya soon", then I called the landlady on Sunday and she told me that she'd since let it out to someone else! I was a bit peeved off! Having spent all of Saturday in a good mood thinking about having somewhere to live FINALLY! Now I've gotta stay in the hostel for at least another week! I enquired about two apartments that are just outside of the city centre and am waiting for a call back so I can hopefully arrange a viewing. I have a feeling I will just take the first place I can, its Christmas soon and the weather is filthy hot so its going to be difficult to find anywhere to live real soon. The Wake Up! hostel is fun but my bed is in the corner of the 1st room on the 1st floor, and its right next to the kitchen, so I can just hear taps taps taps water running through pipes and it drives me mad. I've still not bought any earplugs yet either damnation. However two nights ago I stayed up until 6am watching the football back home, and last night I stayed up with some of the hostel staff (who'd been out on a Christmas party, drinking since 2pm) and some random people just watching films and generally arsing about and making a lot of noise, we got thrown out of the tv room at about 6am by the security guard and I got up at about midday.
I've got two jobs still and they both want me to work tonight, so I'm just not going to bother turning up for one job, they didn't do the schedule/roster for today until last night, and I know they want me in at four but I'm not working my life around a stupid bar job where the management piss me off and I'm the only one on the bar all night which is incredibly boring. Plus we always get paid late. So tonight I belong to Blackbird Cafe, anyway, the staff at Blackbird's are much more fun and there are loads of hot women that work there so thats HEAPS better... (See how I fit the word heaps in there? I'm turning more Aussie every second of my life)
By the way, people in Australia don't throw shrimps on the barbie, I think that was something that came from 'Crocodile Dundee'. Apparently a 'shrimp' in Australia, means a guy with a small willy....
Oh, before I go, I must say hello to Amy's mum Lesley, who apparently is reading this journal now and again. I have to say that Amy is behaving herself!
I gotta go, I'm in a Chinese net cafe and the language is killing me, I wish I could understand what they are all jabbering on about!
Stevie.
xx
