Wow its almost Christmas and its 30 degrees outside!

Sorry I haven't posted on here for a while, I've been mega busy just working all the time in Blackbird cafe. I've settled into my apartment and am getting on fine with my roommate and the two Swedish guys that live there, it kinda feels like home which is strange, but loads better than living out of a backpack in a hostel!!!

Anyhow, my plans for Chrimbo & the New Year....

SunBeats promises to be a fun way of celebrating Christmas Day. Dancing around on the beach in hot weather to a modest line-up of decent DJ's dressed in beachwear and a santa hat should be quality. I'm heading down with a couple of girls I met in the Wake Up! hostel, and apparently the place gets torn apart by backpackers, thats quality. Its also in the only place on Bondi Beach where alcohol will be sold, its banned from the public beach and the few streets behind it.

New Years Eve, I'll be walking around the Circular Quay, where the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge are, hoping to catch a glimpse of the celebrations and all that malarky. However, I've got work at 11am the next day so I can't really get drunk like I usually do every December the 31st!

I will put some pictures up of my end-of-year antics too, I'm gonna try to find a cheap but cheerful digital camera in Chinatown later on... and a memory card for my PS2 so I can actually save games rather than start all over again! Pro Evo 5 has started to take over my life already! I bought a second-hand slimline PS2 for about the equivilant of about 63 English pounds, (about $150 AUD)

Things that I've learnt in Australia;

  • Cars (especially Taxis) are really really out to run you over when you are crossing the road when you shouldn't be.
  • The chocolate doesn't taste as good, I think its cus they make the chocolate different so that it doesn't melt, but anyhow its rubbish compared to the UK stuff.
  • Microwave meals taste even worse than they do back home, and they are hundreds of times more expensive too.
  • You don't just get white or black coffee, white coffee is called a 'flat white', and black coffee is called a 'long black', or 'short black' (which is kinda like an espresso) Anyhow, Australia is supposed to be the second biggest consumer of coffee, behind Italy. I'd believe it, as there are loads of coffee shops and coffee kiosks littered everywhere you go around here.
  • All the cocktail bars are fairly crap, and the spirits and liqor they have over here is mostly rubbish and overpriced! Beer is rubbish too, except for a few.... (Crown Lager, Coopers & James Squire)
  • Australian's think that Fosters is p*ss, so they don't drink it... However, a beer called Carlton Draught is apparently Fosters in disguise, and they all drink that, fools!
  • They don't "throw shrimps on a barbie", as a shrimp is a guy with a small d*ck...
  • 'Thongs' are sandals, so don't be surprised guys when you are turned away from an Aussie club or bar when you are told that you are wearing 'thongs'...
  • The place is full of asian and oriental people, and they always seem to not know where they are going, they walk along in their own little world and just bump into you, which is highly annoying.

Some of you may have read or seen in the news about Anglo-Australian and Lebonese/Western gang fighting in Sydney and some of its beaches, its all over-rated though and I think that the pansy Aussies are just scared that some racial hatred has hit their shores, they should go to any major city in England!

That oil leak fire thing back home in Hemel Hempsted looked a bit scary though! Glad it drifted over to the Frenchies though, bwah-ha-hahaha!!!

Right, I'm off to find some modern photography device.

Merry Christmas mo'fos!

Steve.
